To access Bar Codes or Global Location Numbers you need to be a member of GS1 NZ. There are two membership options available - Full Membership or One Number Membership (please see below).

To use our specialist services such as, GS1net or ProductRecallnz you need to become a Full Member of GS1 NZ (One Number Membership is not available when needing these services).
Full Membership
This membership option will suit you if:
You are an established business or intend growing your product lines.
You need access to multiple blocks of identification numbers and the full range of GS1 services.
You need to use our specialist services such as, GS1net or ProductRecallnz.
You Receive
- Ten free bar code graphics each year (worth $150 + GST).
- Ten free GS1 verifications each year for assurance that scanners can read your bar codes first time, every time (worth $850 + GST).
- Five free GLN's (Global Location Numbers).
- Access to specialist services such as GS1net and the ProductRecallnz.
- Access to significantly discounted rates for all generally available GS1 New Zealand services, including advisory services, Bar code Verification services and seminars.
- Complimentary entrance to a bar code training seminar (worth $199 + GST).
- Discounted rates for all GS1 events.
- Complimentary copies of SCAN magazine.
- Online tools to help you find GS1 solution providers in your area.
How much it costs
- Annual licence fee based on your organisation's annual turnover in New Zealand dollars.
- Fee for allocation of a blocks of identification numbers (blocks of 100, 1,000, 10,000 or 100,000).
- Note: Additional fees apply to access GS1net or ProductRecallnz.
One Number Membership
This membership option will suit you if:
You are a small business requiring only one Bar Code (GTIN) or one Global Location Number (GLN).
You must have an annual turnover of less than $1 million for this option.
This membership option will NOT allow you to use our specialist services such as, GS1net or ProductRecallnz.
* (It is important to realise that every variant of product (size, flavour, colour) and packaging configuration requires a different number - it makes most sense to have Full Membership if you think your business will grow beyond your first product.)
You Receive
- A single Bar Code (GTIN) or Global Location Number (GLN).
- One free verification report when you apply for a single number (worth $85 + GST).
- Create graphics for your bar code at a cost of $15 + GST.
- Discounted rates for all GS1 NZ events.
- Ability to upgrade to Full Membership.
How much it costs
$129.00 + GST for each GTIN or GLN.
